To be honest, I don't know for sure.

However, this much I can tell you. I have been running ArticleExtreme for several years through various incarnations and re-births. (re-births due to childish hackers that gain delight from destroying the efforts of others) There have been times that I felt like just chucking it in. After all, I provide the service for free, I pay for the hosting, I do the admin, everything.

In all this time my holy Google ranking has remained a pathetic one out of ten.

My Alexa rating, on the other hand, has shot from the misty millions to a very respectable 131,033.

Yes I realise there are far loftier sites than mine but consider this. Which of the two is actually giving site owners like me the incentive to keep going and to keep providing a service for its members?

Also, Alexa ratings are produced from far more useful critera, like actual users, time on site, legitimate backlinks, returning users. Not like Google which uses algorithms that can only benefit the sites that have tons of money thrown at them by their owners and which Google makes a ton of money from with lucrative Adsense ads.

If you'd like to leave your opinion, I'd be very interested to read it. (please keep it clean or it won't get accepted).
